A Note from SSG: Digs mentions below that one of her favorite movies is Dead Poet's Society. Though she didn't mention it, one of her favorite quotes is from Thoreau, and read by Robin Williams in that film: "I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put out all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Digs embodies this quote more than any other person I know. Any time I have dared to be more, to go out of my comfort zone, to carpe diem, I have my inner Digs in mind. I have tried many times to remember how we met, but I can't. It's as if she has been there all along, a part of me, just like the marrow of my own bones--made deeper and more rich because of her friendship. These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things (apologies up front to Julie Andrews) Afternoon dozes and kisses forbidden, Unwilling to settle and gifts that are hidden, Loving the sultry way Chet Baker sings, These are a few of my favorite things. Hanging with homies and slurping down noodles, Filling up notebooks with sketches and doodles, Dropping the guy who did time in Sing Sing, These are a few of my favorite things. Unbridled laughter and coy winking lashes, Dating gents who don’t impart unexplained rashes, Long make-out sessions that make my heart zing, These are a few of my favorite things. Stolen glances, Hot romances, Homeland’s not Baghdad, I simply remember my favorite things, And forget the bad dates I’ve had!
