I realize today isn't Sunday.
And for most of the country it probably isn't slow cooker weather either.
But SSG has a new Sunday tradition and it's days like these when she remembers how nice that tradition is.
SSG has always hated Sunday nights. Always. The only time she doesn't mind them is if she's on vacation. And even THEN they're still somewhat depressing because entire cities shut down early on Sunday nights.
So SSG stopped one Sunday and asked herself what, oh WHAT, could she do to enjoy them. Because Sunday nights come around OFTEN.
SSG wanted to feel warm, cozy and pampered on Sunday nights. To have something to look forward to at the end of her weekend instead of starting to dread it Saturday night.
And what says warm better than a slow cooked dinner? Cozy more than a fun movie while tucked away on the couch? And pampered more than a bath?
And thus a new tradition was born.
And SSG loves it.
And SSG almost wishes it were Sunday because today kind of sucked.
Anyhoo ... last Sunday the movie was Confessions of a Shopaholic which ... meh. But on the menu was this Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup from All Recipes. It. Was. Awesome.
I made it just like the recipe said, with the exception of putting the chicken in raw and then shredding it at the end. It comes highly recommended. Just like SSG's version of Sunday nights.

Dear Lord, that recipe has made my mouth water!!
I'm all about a slow cooker in the summertime. Throw a bunch of stuff in, turn it on, float in the pool all day, and voila! A hot dinner is ready!!
I LOVE using my slow cooker.
Have you seen this site? http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/
I've tried a few of her recipes - all fantastic.
Love my slower cooker - we use it in the summer and winter! Great for the busy family/gals.
In the summer time, I love to put a pork butt in the slow cooker and make me some southern style, pulled pork, barbecue. Yummy.
I think the slow cooker is perfect for summertime down here in the South. I will be trying this in the next few days. If not today. Yum!
I loooove me some tortilla soup. So making this when it's not 189 degrees out. Maybe next weekend.
I wish I knew how to freakin use a slow cooker, for the longest time I thought a slow cooker was someone who cooked slow, I'm so not a cooker. Man, I hate Sunday nights myself..always depressing b/c you know Monday is right around the corner.
What a lovely site to have stumbled onto in my quest for all things slow cooker-y, and I'm jealous of your color scheme.
I just started a brand-spankin'-new blog for slow cooking. It's called Crock Tease.
I'd love to have anyone stop by and make suggestions at crocktease.com.
I'll definitely stop by weekly to see what you're slow cooking!

I too love the slow cooker! Makes me look like I actually know how to cook.
I like to make the Hubby Cornish Game Hen or Pot roast that way. Easy! And to top it off, you make it look like soo much work when it isn't! Just keep my secret, K?
Not too many months ago I got the grand-daddy slow cooker of them all from Kitchen Aide. I it gigantic and I LURRRRRRVES IT! I can feed the entire family plus The Boyfriend, who is 6'3" and 270 lbs of sheer muscle, and still have leftovers!
I am allll over your recipe, chicka!
